No one can argue against this fact: Alice Walker’s The Color Purple is part of the American canon – thanks in large part to the 1985 film that followed the novel’s 1982 release and Broadway’s revival of it.

With such an iconic history, gospel lovers are elated to see one of the genre’s premier vocalists, Kierra Sheard Kelly, be given the opportunity to showcase her scintillating vocals on the classic, “I’m Here.”

Digital Broadway creators Michael Korte and Bryson Camper have unveiled her breathtaking cover that has earned her a Performance Spotlight in EEW Magazine Online.

This marks Sheard Kelly’s first foray into Broadway.

The new work, directed by Korte, features music production and vocal arrangements by Bryson Camper. The video was filmed by Taylor Russ with editing by Mario Fierro.

It’s definitely worth a watch.
