Things Imperfect? Thank God for your current season anyway

Devotion By Dianna Hobbs // Your Daily Cup of Inspiration // Encouragement

This morning, while in the kitchen making a cup of coffee, my 14-year-old son Kaleb mentioned that it was “such a pretty day outside.” He’s an artist and always takes notice of the beauty of nature.

He had been looking out of the front bay window of our small dining room, admiring the clear blue sky and bright sunshine. He was gazing at the leaves that had fallen from the trees and added such rich, vibrant colors to the green grass.

I peered out of the window, smiled and agreed, “Yeah, it’s beautiful.”

Autumn happens to be my favorite season, but Kaleb is partial to summer, though he admits it can be particularly humid during that time of year in Buffalo. Despite his partiality to summertime, however, he didn’t fail to see and appreciate the beauty of fall.

After I finished preparing my favorite morning beverage, I thought about how summer-loving Kaleb’s appreciation of autumn offers a good example of how we should live life. Every season won’t be our “favorite season” so to speak. Howbeit, we still have plenty of beauty and blessings to be grateful for in the current season.

Amen?

You may be going through something, but you are still blessed and favored, and God is yet faithful.
— Dianna Hobbs

We must always remember to tell God, thank You for the season I’m in. My current season may be imperfect, but You are good. You are faithful. And I am blessed.

Autumn, for me, represents a time of change and transition, and there is beauty in that process. It is also a season of harvest, a time to reap what we planted in the spring. Let nature remind you that change brings with it a harvest. Even if the change feels uncomfortable, disruptive, uncertain, and at times difficult, you will reap a harvest. You will be blessed. You will be rewarded. God will always remain faithful to His word.

So then, even though this may not be your favorite season, guess what? It is your favored season, because God’s hand of favor is forever outstretched. In every season, He cares for you and sees what you’re going through. And He will bless you, my friend, in spite of all the obstacles you face and what you may lose.

Isaiah 40:8 reminds us that, “The grass withers and the flowers fall, but the word of our God endures forever."

Now, let’s pray.

God, whether it is spring, summer, fall, or winter, You remain faithful, and I will remain thankful no matter what. Thank You for Your assurance that Your favor is with me every day throughout the year and that Your blessings are upon me. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
