For many years, Christian actress Meagan Good hoped to star in a superhero movie, but she says the opportunity did not materialize until she put her faith in action.

Earlier this year, the 38-year-old thrilled viewers on the big screen in the hit DC superhero film Shazam! —a realized dream that began with a shift in her mindset.

During a chat with former “Empire” star and fellow Christian actress Grace Byers, who is host of the new “Sit + Sip” web series on YouTube, Good got personal about her journey.

She said, one day, she was talking to her film executive husband Devon Franklin about her unrealized goal. During the course of the conversation, he asked a thought-provoking question: “What are you doing to meet God halfway?”

“Immediately faith without works came into my head,” said Good who plays the role of Darla Dudley’s adult superhero alter-ego in Shazam!

The thought that popped into Good’s head wasn’t random. It was is a scriptural reference to James 2:17, which says, “Even so faith, if it hath not works, is dead, being alone.”

“I was like, so I have all the faith in the world. I’m praying about it and literally expecting it to happen, but I have no works. I’m not doing anything to bring it to me,” she told Byers during their comfy chat on the sofa.

After that epiphany, the then 34-year-old changed her approach. She decided to start a fitness journey to get in the best shape of her life by age 35, with her birthday only approximately seven to eight months away.

Good, who recently made her directorial debut as co-director of indie film drama, If Not Now, When? said she continued praying while getting in shape, and “within the year, Shazam! came.”

For those looking for something big to happen, Good’s Bible-based philosophy could prove to be helpful.

“For me, it’s really about, whatever I’m believing for, making sure my works match my faith, and I have a lot of faith, so I’ve got to work hard,” she said.

Aside from making sure her work ethic is on point, the busy entertainer, who just landed a recurring role on Fox’s new drama series, “Prodigal Son,” said spending time in God’s word is important above all else.

“I’ve read my Bible every single day for the past 12 years, minus 20 days,” the devoted follower of Christ said. “I’m seeking God’s face every day at the top of my day. That’s the most important thing in the world to me, period.”
