The birthday wishes, gifts and expressions of love poured in from around the world, a testament to the broad impact of the ministry of Dianna Hobbs.

The founder of Empowering Everyday Women Online Magazine who turned 44 Monday, Nov. 2, is thanking her supporters for their displays of love.

“Thank you for making me feel like a queen on my 44th birthday!” she wrote in a special message sent out Friday, November 6. “God has been good to me. Surrounding me with so much love and support is simply icing on the cake.”

Hobbs, who overcame dire health challenges in 2019, said Friday, “Last year was one of the hardest of my life, though I have had very hard years before 2019. But the mini stroke and seizures that double-teamed me and robbed me of memories and cognitive function and left me fighting anxiety were more horrible than I could have ever imagined.”

The “God Did It” author and nonprofit founder had a near-fatal reaction to an antibiotic in August of last year and spent days in the intensive care unit in a Buffalo, New York hospital. As Hobbs’s condition worsened relatives flew in from other states to pray God’s grace and healing over the blogger and podcaster.  Though Hobbs has testified about miraculously regaining her ability to walk and talk before being discharged from the hospital, defying doctors’ predictions, there are other issues she still contends with to this day.

“There are days when I struggle to figure things out and keep my emotions under control while fighting for my mental health,” said Hobbs who suffered brain trauma from the more than two dozen seizures as well as immune cell damage.

“It isn’t easy,” she continued, “but God is with me, and you have been a tremendous blessing. The notes, cards and gifts you sent to me made me smile and shed tears. God always has a way of showing us that we are loved, valued and recipients of His unending grace.”

According to a rep for Hobbs, she spent her birthday quietly at her Upstate New York home surrounded by the love of her husband Kenya and the couple’s four children: Kyla, 21, Kaiah, 19, Kedar, 17, and Kaleb, 14.

In the conclusion of her message, Hobbs wrote, “You are and forever will be one of God’s greatest gifts to me. Thank you. I am blessed beyond measure.”

Hobbs, who is also first lady of City Church Buffalo, has been slowly easing back into her numerous roles after her medical emergency required her ministry team to cancel all engagements. So far, the typically booked and busy Bible teacher has not yet accepted any in-person speaking engagements but says, “I am looking forward to the day when God releases me and strengthens me to resume in-person ministry.”
