As a Christian CEO, the allure of the boss chick lifestyle is undeniable. Having your own money, calling the shots, and advancing in life without waiting for anyone to hand you anything sounds enticing.

And you know what? You should go hard after your dreams. Go hard. Do and be everything God created you to do and be. By all means, boss up, sis.

However, there is a caveat: Christian boss chicks still need to follow the Bible to attain the kind of success God envisions for them. Therefore, if you are an entrepreneur of faith that is genuinely committed to doing God’s will and not just getting your way, EEW Magazine Online is offering these 10 essential Scriptures to guide you.

#1 “Seek his will in all you do, and he will show you which path to take.” (Proverbs 3:6 NLT)

Never think you’re so smart, innovative, and seasoned that you don’t need to consult the Lord. Before you do anything, pray, and never lose your hunger to discover, discern, and do the will of God. Then you will have greater success.

#2 “Commit your way to the LORD, trust also in Him, and He shall bring it to pass.” (Psalm 37:5 NKJV)

After you have prayed, planned, strategized and implemented, there is a faith component that you can’t forget. It is your hands that do the work but God’s hands that bless it. Trust Him to bring those dreams He put in your heart into fruition.

#3 “Commit your actions to the LORD, and your plans will succeed.” (Proverbs 16:3 NLT)

This verse piggybacks off the one above it. Ask yourself, am I checking in with God? Is He pleased with my ideas, my direction, and my overall goals? Have I dedicated what I am doing to Him? When you keep these questions in mind, they will become the driving force behind what you do, and then God will cause you to succeed.

#4 “God can bless you with everything you need, and you will always have more than enough to do all kinds of good things for others.” (2 Corinthians 9:8)

All leaders and business owners go through seasons and cycles. Sometimes you’re up and at other times down. There will be phases when you have more and at other times less. But don’t panic! If you know you’re doing what God placed you on earth to do, trust Him to provide more than enough of what you need to carry on.

#5 “Many are the plans in a person’s heart, but it is the LORD’s purpose that prevails.” (Proverbs 19:21 NIV)

Planners that love controlling all features, aspects and details of a project prove problematic when time comes to be flexible. If you can’t give up control, you’re going to have a tough time finding success at doing things God’s way. You must learn to be prayerful and give your ideas to God. He will cause what is supposed to happen to happen for you.

#6 “Take a lesson from the ants, you lazybones. Learn from their ways and become wise! Though they have no prince or governor or ruler to make them work, they labor hard all summer, gathering food for the winter.” (Proverbs 6:6-8 NLT)

All the faith-talk and belief in the world cannot compensate for a lack of work ethic. Laziness is a no-no. Some days, you will not feel like being on your grind. And while we all have off days, know when to push through and persevere. God rewards diligence, and faith without works is dead (James 2:26).

#7 “Work hard and become a leader; be lazy and become a slave.” (Proverbs 12:24 NLT)

This passage reinforces the lesson in verse #6. Everybody wants to be successful, but few desire to put the work in. They fail to understand that being a slacker and lacking discipline is a sure recipe for sheer failure. Those who avoid hard work wind up working hard for someone that tackles it head on. Without pain, there is no gain. Without perseverance, there can be no profits. Though no one can sustain a lifestyle that requires burning the candle at both ends 24/7, the bottom line is that sometimes, you’ve got to wake up early and go to bed late to get the job done.

#8 “And he said to them, how is it that you sought me? knew you not that I must be about my Father's business?” (Luke 2:49 AKJV)

Jesus knew what His mission and ministry was and never strayed from it. Be like Jesus. There will be days when those who are not as ambitious, focused, or goals-driven come looking for you. Come be with us, they’ll say. Hang out. Have fun. But, if you want to succeed, you must prioritize your mission and say no to the rest. While there are times for recreation, recreational activities cannot be at the top of your list!

#9 “If you do what the LORD wants, he will make certain each step you take is sure.” (Psalm 37:23 CEV)

In the world, a big part of success culture is going with your gut, doing what you think is best, and pursuing what makes you feel happy and fulfilled. For Christians, we strive to see what pleases God first and how we can then translate that into our work. The world is driven by their own wants, needs, and desires. Not us. We are driven by God’s will.

#10 “But don’t begin until you count the cost. For who would begin construction of a building without first calculating the cost to see if there is enough money to finish it?” (Luke 14:28 NLT)

Never fail to mix faith with practicality which is what the Bible endorses. On occasion, God will give you a dream that is way bigger than your budget. That’s a good thing, so long as you don’t rush into a project because you feel God has called you to it.  You may need to save and plan for a while, knowing that there is a season and set time for the fulfillment of a vision. Some things will take longer—years longer—than other things. Distinguish between short-term and long-term goals. If it is from God, it will happen. Use wisdom.

Now you’re properly armed with what you need to go out into the world and keep being a boss—and doing it God’s way which is the best way. Let Him define what success means for you as you strive to fulfill your divine purpose.
