Let’s be honest.
Some mornings, peace feels like fiction.
You open your eyes and the pressure starts: emails, kids, bills, expectations. The to-do list is already longer than your patience, and the world seems determined to remind you that Black women are expected to carry it all with a smile.
I remember a season not too long ago when I was running on empty. I was juggling work, caring for my mom after her surgery, and trying to show up for church ministry like nothing was wrong. I’d pray for peace at night, but by morning, the anxiety was already sitting on my chest.
One day, after breaking down in the restroom stall at work, I scrolled through my Bible app and landed on Isaiah 26:3: “You will keep in perfect peace those whose minds are steadfast, because they trust in you.”
I read it over and over. But honestly? It didn’t compute at first. I didn’t feel it. My mind was all over the place. Worried, tired, doubting.
But that verse kept tugging at me throughout the afternoon.
Then God dropped a thought in my spirit: He wasn’t asking me to be perfect. He was asking me to be steady. To keep turning my thoughts back to Him, even when life was a mess.
That was a game-changer for me.

I started whispering prayers while folding laundry. Blasting gospel while driving to appointments. Reminding myself (out loud!) that God was with me, even on the hard days. I learned that peace isn’t about the storm letting up, it’s about knowing who anchors you in the middle of it.
“Peace isn’t perfection—it’s presence. God’s presence.”
We carry so much: family, community, work, and the legacy of those who came before us. It’s beautiful, but it’s heavy.
So today, remember this: Even when life won’t let up, God’s peace won’t let go.
Trust Him to steady you.
Sis, look, I know you’ve got a lot on your plate. Maybe you’re the one everyone depends on. The strong one. The fixer. The faithful one who always finds a way.
But maybe you’re tired of being strong all the time.
I see you.
More importantly, God sees you.
Here’s what I want you to know:
Peace is not a prize for the perfect. It’s a promise for the trusting. You don’t have to earn it by holding everything together. You just have to receive it.
Your mind is powerful. Where you focus it matters. When you catch yourself spiraling, pause. Breathe. Speak God’s truth over your situation, no matter how messy it looks.
Your feelings are real, but they don’t get the final say. It’s okay to feel anxious or overwhelmed. But God’s peace is bigger than your feelings. It’s the steady ground under your feet.
If you can, jot those three points down in your journal and revisit them whenever you need a reminder.

Let yourself off the hook for being “strong” all the time. Real strength is knowing when to lean in and when to let go and let God.
As Black women, we’re often the backbone of our families, our churches, our communities. But even the backbone needs rest. Even the backbone needs peace.
So, as you go about your day handling business, loving your people, making a way out of no way, rehearse this truth: Perfect peace is yours. Not because you’ve got it all together, but because God’s got you.
Let peace guard your mind. Let it soften your heart. Let it carry you through the noise, the pressure, and the never-ending demands. And when you feel yourself slipping, go back to that promise in Isaiah: “You will keep in perfect peace those whose minds are steadfast, because they trust in you.”
Stay focused on Jesus.
Stay anchored in His promises.
Stay confident in His faithfulness.
God’s peace is not a myth. It’s your birthright. Walk in it today and every day.
