An Atlanta-area police chief who was criticized for saying on social media that he doesn’t support the Black Lives Matter movement has now been placed on leave while his city investigates him.

Tyler Perry will pay for the funeral expenses of Rayshard Brooks, the 27-year-old black man who was shot and killed by an Atlanta police officer, sparking protests and cries for justice across the nation, as well as for his children’s college educations.

An Atlanta megachurch pastor is being lambasted on social media for referring to the benefits white folks received from slavery on the backs of the black enslaved as "white blessings" instead of "white privilege."

Protesting the murder of George Floyd matters and is necessary. It brings awareness to the systemic racism, police brutality and violence against black people – though many wish to ignore and still choose to deny their existence.

The reason for the silence is to free our team to plan, coordinate, implement effective strategies, send resources, and partner with organizations and like-minded leaders to address the needs of so many who are hurting right now.
