FOMO: 5 Bible verses to read if ‘fear of missing out’ on good things is worrying you

Article By Angela Hall // EEW Magazine //Spiritual Life

FOMO or fear of missing out is anxiety and worry that something exciting will happen, and you won’t be a part of it. Many people’s FOMO is sparked by the carefully curated moments of joy, celebration, and high achievement they see promoted on social media. Have you ever felt this way?

If you’re suffering from and stressing over fear of missing out—not just on events but on destiny altogether—instead of scrolling through others’ online posts, here are 5 spirit-lifting Bible verses you should read right away.

“Let us not become weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up.” (Galatians 6:9 NIV) There is a set time when God will release everything He promised you. Don’t grow weary while you wait on your unique harvest. You won’t miss out on anything He has planned for you!

“For the revelation awaits an appointed time; it speaks of the end and will not prove false. Though it linger, wait for it; it will certainly come and will not delay.” (Habakkuk 2:3 NIV) Many people get discouraged during the waiting process, but there is a season for everything. You can be sure that when your moment arrives for breakthrough, success, and elevation, God will catapult you into destiny, and there is nothing anyone can do to stop it.

“Let us hold tightly without wavering to the hope we affirm, for God can be trusted to keep his promise.” (Hebrews 10:23 NLT) When it seems like everyone is walking in destiny but you, discouragement will sway your faith if you let it. You have to remain focused on the faithfulness of God despite the fickleness of your emotions, and this will keep you steadfast in difficult circumstances.

“I would have lost heart, unless I had believed that I would see the goodness of the LORD In the land of the living.” (Psalm 27:13 NKJV) Most people suffering from FOMO, somewhere along the way convinced themselves that it will never be their time or their turn. But that’s not true. Don’t lose heart. Remain confident that you will see the goodness of the Lord in your life also.

“When I am afraid, I put my trust in you.” (Psalm 56:3 NIV) From the strongest to the weakest in faith, at times, we all feel fearful about what may or may not happen to or for us in the future. When fearfulness tries to overwhelm you, trust in the Lord. Placing your faith in Him conquers fear every time.

As a woman of faith, Satan would love to plague your emotions and toy with your mind, so you’ll think that you are somehow behind the curve, and life is passing you by.

But when you remember that God is orchestrating your destiny, ordering your steps, and setting you up for good things in His own perfect timing, fear of missing out (or any other fear) won’t be able to take hold of your thoughts and emotions.
