Christian actress and Destiny’s Child alum, LeToya Luckett, got emotional while discussing the life she desires most and how her plans have not all panned out.

“Having kids is what I wanted the most from God; having a family is what I wanted most,” said the 41-year-old on the newest episode of her Kin series, Leave it to LeToya.

The Houston-bred entertainer, who split with Tommicus Walker in 2021 after less than four years of marriage, is now using her digital series to take viewers on her vulnerable journey as she discovers her new normal: the pursuit of happiness post-divorce and facing the everyday challenges of balancing her career and motherhood.

“I know that when my kids get older, there’s gonna be some hard conversations. Every question that they will have will be valid, and I will answer to the best of my ability,” said the mom of daughter Gianna and son Tysun that she shares with her ex-husband.

Living the life of a single mom with a grueling work schedule is not easy, and Luckett understandably said she suffers from “mom guilt.” If, in the future, her children “ask why I work the way I do,” Luckett said, “I will tell them this is all that I know. This is the only life that I know. This is the life that I’ve been living since I was 13, and I’m so glad that I was able to live out my dream at a very young age.”

Despite the blessings that come with fulfilling longtime dreams, the entrepreneur is still trying to figure things out and said she will tell her children, “I did the best I could with the cards I was dealt,” adding, “I would go to the end of the world for Gianna and Tysun.”

The “Torn” songstress, whose solo freshman album, LeToya, debuted at #1 on the U.S. Billboard 200 chart and was certified platinum by RIAA, welled up when speaking candidly about motherhood being her favorite role of all time.

“It wasn’t cause I played with my Barbies, and I thought it was cool or what you’re supposed to do as a woman,” she said. “I wanted to share this life with my kids, like that’s what I dreamed of, and that dream did not turn out the way I thought it would.”

Even so, the loving mom is doing her best to create a happy, wholesome life for her son and daughter, despite that life not looking the way she expected. “They’re my everything, and I don’t want to fail them,” she said.

Leave it to LeToya is the latest series to join Kin’s line-up of hit digital shows, including All Things Adrienne with Adrienne Bailon Houghton, Tia Mowry’s Quick Fix, and Hello Hunnay with Jeannie MaiKin’s shows have been successful at attracting large and diverse young women’s audiences across multiple platforms.

Luckett gained renown as a member of Destiny’s Child.  As part of the iconic music group, she achieved four US Top 10 hit singles and won two Grammy Awards.
