The assassination of conservative activist Charlie Kirk at Utah Valley University on September 10, 2025, has drawn a sobering response from one of the nation’s leading women’s ministry voices.

As details surrounding the tragedy continue to unfold, faith leaders and communities are grappling with how best to respond—not only to the violence itself, but also to the deepening divisions it has revealed across American society.

Among those responding is Dianna Hobbs, founder and editor-in-chief of Empowering Everyday Women (EEW) Magazine, a digital ministry reaching thousands of Christian women of color. In a newsletter to supporters, Hobbs addressed Kirk’s death with a message centered on faith, healing, and unity, choosing a spiritual rather than political lens.

“What has grieved me deeply, beyond the tragedy itself, is the divisive and combative spirit rising up in the discourse surrounding his death,” Hobbs wrote, acknowledging the polarized reactions that have surfaced online and in the media.

She made clear that EEW would not be a forum for “hot takes, gossip, or ideological battles,” but instead a space for “conviction that Jesus Christ is the answer, and that love, prayer, and unity, not strife, are the way forward.”

Since launching EEW Magazine from her kitchen table in Buffalo, New York, in 2007, the inspirational blogger and podcaster has consistently emphasized spiritual encouragement and practical support for women of faith. Her approach to Kirk’s assassination reflects her long-standing belief in the power of prayer and collective action rooted in Christian hope.

Charlie Kirk was married to Erika Frantzve since May 2021, and shared a 3-year-old daughter and a 1-year-old son.

In her message, Hobbs urged believers to “rise” and “show the world what it truly means to reflect Christ in dark and painful times.” She also shared a prayer for Kirk’s family and for the nation: “We ask that You turn our hearts back to love, civility, and respect for every human life. We come against the spirit of division, hatred, and the powers of darkness at work in the world. Instead, we cry out for revival to sweep across this land, that men and women everywhere would turn from evil and return their hearts to You.”

Hobbs anchored her appeal in Scripture, quoting 2 Chronicles 7:14: “If My people, who are called by My name, will humble themselves and pray and seek My face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and I will forgive their sin and will heal their land.”

Her emphasis on prayer and spiritual reflection comes at a time of heightened concern over political violence in the United States. Kirk’s assassination, following other recent high-profile attacks, has fueled public debate about the state of civil discourse and the safety of public figures. While some leaders have chosen to confront the political dimensions directly, Hobbs offered another path: a call to grieve together, stand united, and seek God for guidance and peace.

“My heart aches for the state of our nation. Yet I remain steadfast in hope, knowing that God hears the cries of His people,” Hobbs wrote.

For nearly two decades, Hobbs has positioned EEW Magazine as a trusted voice for Christian women navigating life’s challenges through faith. From mental health and trauma recovery to navigating social justice concerns, her leadership has been marked by honesty, empathy, and a refusal to sensationalize. That consistency has earned her both accolades and a loyal following in Christian media.

As the investigation into Kirk’s death continues and the national conversation evolves, EEW Magazine’s approach serves as a gentle but powerful reminder: even in sorrow, there is space for hope; even in division, there is room for healing; and even in the darkest moments, faith can light the way forward—not by ignoring reality, but by facing it with open hearts and a willingness to pray and care for one another.

For many, that is the kind of message needed now more than ever.
