Saying Goodbye: Dianna Hobbs ends her podcast, calls it an ‘agonizing decision’

BUFFALO, N.Y. (EEW) — Dianna Hobbs, host of Your Daily Cup of Inspiration podcast, entered the studio to record her final episode Wednesday morning, Feb. 5, 2020.

The Christian host whose successful podcast launched in March 2016 and has reached millions worldwide since its inception, called the choice to leave an “agonizing” one in a transparent message.

“This was not an easy decision,” said the well-known encourager whose broadcast, sponsored by Empowering Everyday Women Ministries, is recommended by Christianity Today and has been featured in multiple conservative and faith-based publications and syndicated media. Hobbs said she prayed about it, consulted her husband and her team, and everyone agreed that it was time to let it go.

“I did not make this decision alone,” said Hobbs, 43. “It has been confirmed in many ways that the time has come for me to move in a different direction. And it has been an agonizing decision.”

Before making the big announcement, subscribers and supporters took notice of the fact that Hobbs’ friendly voice had been heard less often lately—something she directly addressed in her goodbye message. “I have not been able to make it into the studio consistently for quite a while. I have had to take multiple hiatuses,” she said, attributing the inconsistency to “a series of health struggles” over the past several years.

“I went through a life-threatening and life-altering health battle about six months ago,” continued Hobbs. “God brought me out of that and delivered me and I’m doing awesome. But that situation was truly life-changing, and I still have to pace myself. I no longer have the capacity to juggle as much as I used to, and I have to prioritize my health and well-being so I can serve the Lord effectively.”

In early August 2019, the best-selling author, who is working on a new book, suffered a mini stroke and multiple seizures and wound up in the ICU.  After returning home, her ministry team made drastic changes to Hobbs’ schedule, canceling all ministry events until further notice.

Though the award-winning nonprofit founder is now doing well, she admitted during her podcast that the ordeal left her needing to “readjust to life.”

Despite inconsistencies and telltale signs, the news of Hobbs ending the popular broadcast may still come as a shock to some among her legions of global listeners. But Hobbs says she believes the decision is for the best and is necessary during this time of transition in her life. “I have had to modify many things and altogether stop doing some things,” she said, adding, “And this podcast is one of the things I have to discontinue.”

Your Daily Cup of Inspiration ended its nearly four-year run as one of the top-rated podcasts for Christian women. Though the podcast is no longer an option for supporters, Hobbs said she will continue writing devotions on her blog at YourDailyCupOfInspiration.com.
