This has to be one of the saddest stories ever. A creative vacation proposal turned deadly, leaving a would-be fiancé, who should be celebrating, grieving the loss of her potential husband.

While vacationing in Tanzania, Kenesha Antoine’s boyfriend Steven Weber Jr. proposed to her underwater, but never made it back to the surface.

Antoine shared the devastating news of Weber’s passing on Facebook and also posted a heart-wrenching video of the final seconds of his life.

In the footage, the crazy in love man holds up a romantic hand-written note, sealed in a plastic bag, asking Antoine’s hand in marriage.

“I can’t hold my breath long enough to tell you everything I love about you,” the written proposal said. “But…everything I love about you I love more every day.”

That was just the first side of the message he pressed against the glass inside the diving tank. The flip side of the note contained the big question: “Will you please be my wife. Marry me?”

That was the last time Antoine saw him alive.

“There are no words adequate enough to honor the beautiful soul that is Steven Weber, Jr.,” she wrote in her beautiful Facebook tribute. “You were kind, compassionate, you regularly made me cry with laughter, and you showered me with a love like none I’d ever experienced.”

Antoine continued, “You never emerged from those depths, so you never got to hear my answer, Yes! Yes! A million times, yes, I will marry you!!”

The Louisiana couple, now known the world over, had been together two years and were celebrating their love with a bucket list vacation at the Manta Resort.

Antoine noted, “We never got to embrace and celebrate the beginning of the rest of our lives together, as the best day of our lives turned into the worst, in the cruelest twist of fate imaginable.”

Our hearts truly go out to Antoine and all those who loved the deceased.
