Lord, Keep My Mind: 8 Scriptures to read when life feels absolutely crazy

Article By Alexa Patterson // EEW Magazine Online // Bible Verses

Have you ever had those moments when your life seemed absolutely crazy and out of control? When nothing was working out right? When your world turned upside down? When it took every bit of Holy Ghost you had simply not to go crazy?

I’ve been there, and I know that the word of the Lord is what you need in those times. It will not only help you keep your mind, but it will also renew your mind, change your perspective, and cause you to see things in a whole new way.

If that sounds like something you need to happen for you, EEW Magazine Online recommends reading these 8 Scriptures.

#1 “You will keep in perfect peace all who trust in you, all whose thoughts are fixed on you!” (Isaiah 26:3 NLT) If you don’t have any peace, this verse tells you exactly what to do: trust God, and keep your mind stayed on Jesus. If you can do those two things, the storm clouds and rain will be no match for the peace of God that will shine brightly through the overcast skies of life.

#2 “Abundant peace belongs to those who love Your instruction; nothing can make them stumble.” (Psalm 119:165 BSB) When you love the word of God and apply it to your life, nothing – no matter what it is – can destabilize you. You will remain steadfast through any test by doing exactly what you’re doing right now: feeding yourself with Scripture.

#3 “If only you had paid attention to my commands, your peace would have been like a river, your well-being like the waves of the sea.” (Isaiah 48:18 NIV) When your peace is disrupted, it’s always a good policy to check your obedience. Are you heeding God’s commands? Are you investing in your spiritual well-being? That’s the key to keep peace flowing through the chaos like a river that never runs dry.

#4The troubles of my heart are multiplied; Bring me out of my distresses.” (Psalm 25:17 Amplified) Pray the word of God over yourself like this psalmist did. Tell God that your heart is troubled, your mind is cluttered, and your spirit is burdened. After all, He knows it. Then, ask Him to deliver you and set you free from those distressing thoughts and circumstances that try to keep you bound. God hears and answers the earnest prayers of the heart!

#5 “From the end of the earth I call to you when my heart is faint. Lead me to the rock that is higher than I, for you have been my refuge, a strong tower against the enemy.” (Psalm 61:2-3 ESV) When you are weary, overwhelmed, and you feel your strength slipping away, go to the Rock, Jesus Christ. His word steadies you and reminds you that He is your refuge, place of safety and your defense against every opponent in any form.

#6 “But you, O LORD, are a shield about me, my glory, and the lifter of my head.” (Psalm 3:3) Oftentimes in life, our heads hang low because they are heavy with the burdens and cares of life, the weight of depression, or overwhelming feelings of discouragement. In any case, the Lord will lift your head, give you the comfort and rest you seek, renew your joy, and restore your peace. Just go to Him – the one who shields you with favor and delights in blessing you.

#7 “The LORD is my rock, my fortress, and my savior; my God is my rock, in whom I find protection. He is my shield, the power that saves me, and my place of safety.” (Psalm 18:2 NLT) This Scripture reminds you that God is many things; He is everything you need Him to be. For a moment, isolate the portion of this verse that says “the power that saves me.” The next time you feel like you’re losing your sanity, your grip, and your strength, remember that God is the power that saves you. Though our strength fades, we know that His power never runs out!

#8 “Bless the LORD, O my soul: and all that is within me, bless his holy name.” (Psalm 103:1 KJV) This psalm of David helps you remember to give God glory in every season. In good times and bad, God is worthy. And the amazing thing about praising and glorifying God is that chains of bondage are loosed, and shackles are broken as you praise. Learn to bless the name of the Lord in the middle of your struggle. Though receiving something in return should not be your motivation, it is still undeniably true that when you bless God, He returns the favor and blesses you.

From time to time, life throws way more at each of us than our hearts and minds can handle. It’s a good thing that we know that there is power in the word of God. His word strengthens and equips us to handle whatever comes our way.
