As many say, God works in mysterious ways. And according to Cameron Hamilton, who met his now wife of three years, Lauren Speed, on Netflix’s hit series Love Is Blind, he saw the chance to appear on the show as a divine opportunity.

And who are we to judge?

“It felt like the hand of God reaching down,” said the love-struck husband on the Wendy Williams Show, making their seeming chance meeting not so chance after all.

During the pair’s sweet interview with Sherri Shepherd—the recently named permanent interim host for Wendy Williams who is currently battling unspecified health issues—the happy couple promoted the new book they coauthored, Leap of Faith: Finding Love the Modern Way (Gallery Books, a division of Simon & Schuster).

For them, the “modern way” was through Love Is Blind, a dating reality television series produced by Kinetic Content and created by Chris Coelen, which premiered on the streaming service on Feb. 13, 2020, as part of a three-week event.

The series, currently in its second season, follows 30 men and women hoping to find love. Using the speed-dating format, the love-seekers can talk to each other but not see each other. If things go well and he so wishes, the man can then propose to the woman he wants to marry. Only after he gets a yes, sealing a commitment to marriage, can each see what the other looks like for the first time.

“She was the most beautiful woman I’ve ever seen,” said the data science consultant, recalling the moment he laid eyes on his future bride. “I’m not just saying that. It’s really true.”

Hamilton said when he saw Speed’s silhouette through the door, “I thought it was like a cardboard cutout or something, but it was actually her, and I was just—I was blown away.”

Mrs. Hamilton, entrepreneur and CEO of her own multimedia entertainment company, The Speed Brand, blushed as hubby reminisced, and then she said, “I’m blessed.”

When Shepherd asked Speed, “What did you think?” when she first saw her then fiancé, she said, “I thought he was so handsome. I mean, he is like Prince Charming to me, literally.”

The audience let out a collective aww.

“It was amazing,” she added. “I was just in love immediately.”

And in love they remain. The two who wed in November 2018, during the filming of the first season, are now working on having a baby.

“We’re actively trying. So, it’s a whole lot of practicing right now,” Speed lightheartedly told Entertainment Tonight. “But we’re enjoying the practicing.”

Whenever the baby arrives, if right now is any indication of the future, the little bundle will only add joy to an already joyful union that appears to be getting stronger with the passage of time. “It’s even better now because we know each other even better, obviously, and we’ve reached a little bit more harmony,” said Hamilton.

When Shepherd, a divorced, single mom, solicited dating advice from her in love guests, Hamilton told her, “Be forthcoming about who you are and even things that are kind of uncomfortable to talk about.”

Speed added, “Look, don’t settle. That was the thing for me. Like, in this process of Love Is Blind, I went in and said, ‘I’m going to be myself…and whoever I fall in love with is going to love me for me.’”

Good advice, guys!
