Rapper and businessman, Percy Miller Sr. – best known by his stage name, Master P – is in the throes of grief since losing his daughter, Tytyana Miller, who died Sunday, May 30. She was 29.

In a new Instagram post, the Hip Hop mogul, 52, thanked everyone for their “love, prayers and support” and declared that despite the pain, “I put my faith and trust in God.”

According to Master P, Tytyana has been battling “mental illness and substance abuse” since 2015—what he calls “a long and painful journey for our family.” Yet, he said, “we hope to turn this tragedy into a testimony.”

Tytyana’s struggles were publicized through her appearances on WE tv’s “Growing Up Hip Hop,” where her father was seen expressing concern over her addiction and doing his best to keep her on the right track.

“As a father, I have always established parameters to protect my children,” said Master P in his emotional social media post. “Unfortunately, when they become adults, they have the legal right to choose who to have relationships with, whether healthy or unhealthy.”

He continued, “I put my faith and trust in God, I realize that no person is exempt from pain or death. Every day families are dealing with the loss of their loved ones due to mental illness and substance abuse. I have committed to invest my time, resources and passion to help other families affected by these same issues. Our healing process will not end in grief, we will celebrate her life.”

Though Tytyana no doubt struggled, her father does not want her inner turmoil to overshadow the person she was whom Master P calls “inspiring, uplifting, artistic and a loving person who deeply cared for others.”

Aside from the late Tytyana, Master P and Sonya C, share multiple children together: Romeo Miller, Hercy Miller, Veno Miller, Itali Miller, Mercy Miller and Vercy Miller. He is also the father of Cymphonique Miller.
