Outspoken Christian and “For Colored Girls” actor Kimberly Elise set the Internet ablaze when she posted a message celebrating the U.S. Supreme Court’s decision to overturn Roe v. Wade.

On Tuesday, the pro-life entertainer published an illustration of a Black sleeping baby on Instagram and captioned it, “Millions of babies will be saved from death by abortion due to the overturning of Roe V. Wade. Hallelujah!”

A featured hashtag on her account also read, “All glory be to God” regarding the landmark decision.

Pro-choice activists were upset by Elise’s pro-life comments and took to social media to express their own views.

Elise’s social media, which highlights her faith in Christ, also showcased the scripture Psalm 139:13-14: “For you formed my inward parts; You knitted me together in my mother’s womb. I praise You, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made. Wonderful are Your works; my soul knows it very well.”

Pro-choice advocates responded with outrage and negative remarks, forcing the 55-year-old to turn off her comments. Thousands took to Twitter to weigh in, sharing strong opinions about the four-time NAACP Image Award winner’s commentary.

Several users pointed to Elise’s role in the 2010 movie adaptation of the play “For Colored Girls,” which deals with the topic of abortion.

The actor’s comments came just days after the Court stripped away women’s constitutional protections for abortion, a fundamental and deeply personal change for Americans’ lives after nearly a half-century under Roe v. Wade, sparking protests across the U.S.

Women’s reproductive rights is a charged issue with passionate allies on each side of the debate.

The official ruling was handed down more than a month after the stunning leak of a draft opinion by Justice Samuel Alito indicating the court was prepared to take this momentous step.

Elise frequently shares her perspective on faith with her social media followers. Last year, in celebration of her birthday, she said on Instagram, "I very consciously rededicated and gave my life to Jesus in 2019 and haven't looked back. Since that time, the Holy Spirit has done a fast and deep work on me.”
