Happy New Year! Stay rooted in the word of God in 2021 with these 6 Scriptures

By April Dawkins // Spiritual // EEW Magazine Online

In the coming days, you’ll receive messages from family, friends and colleagues wishing you a Happy New Year. Lots of people will talk about how glad they are to see 2020 finally in the rearview mirror and how they hope 2021 will be a better year.

Though nobody knows everything the future holds but God, you can ensure that you’ll stay strong and rooted in the New Year by focusing on the word of God.

EEW Magazine Online is offering 6 powerful Scriptures to set the tone for your faith walk in the days, weeks, and months ahead.

#1 “Your word is a lamp for my feet, a light on my path.” (Psalm 119:105)

If you desire to know which path to take, let Scripture be your guide. It provides light in dark places, answers in uncertain seasons, and clarity in confusing times.

#2For the word of God is alive and active. Sharper than any double-edged sword, it penetrates even to dividing soul and spirit, joints and marrow; it judges the thoughts and attitudes of the heart.” (Hebrews 4:12)

The Bible is an integral part of your spiritual armor. It is a sword and the only effective weapon to fight off the enemy—both outside and inside of you. To be a better person than you were in 2020, seek the word. It will give you a true and accurate picture of where you are, and its sharp edge will cut away whatever comes to defile, distract and destroy.

#3 Consequently, faith comes from hearing the message, and the message is heard through the word about Christ. (Romans 10:17)

Keep your faith firm, secure and growing in 2021 through Scripture. Hearing the gospel of Christ produces faith, and faith produces powerful results. And while hearing the message of the gospel from a preacher is awesome, don’t neglect to study the Word on your own. Ask the Holy  Spirit for enlightenment.

#4 All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness, so that the servant of God may be thoroughly equipped for every good work. (2 Timothy 3:16-17)

In a world where there is much skepticism, debate and slander surrounding Christianity and belief in the Bible, shore up your faith. Believe the word of God with your whole heart and follow its teachings. Your life will be enriched, and you will fulfill your divine calling.

#4 He sent out his word and healed them; he rescued them from the grave. (Psalm 107:20)

The word of God, which is alive and active, has power to heal—not only the disease of sin but whatever ails and troubles you. If you are carrying some brokenness into your New Year, study Scripture, reflect on it, and let it penetrate every area of hurt and mend you.

#5 I have hidden your word in my heart that I might not sin against you. (Psalm 119:11)

Temptation is everywhere. Cultural shifts are happening. Drastic changes in what our society views as moral have made anti-biblical values and fringe ideas mainstream and widely accepted. If you want to avoid falling into these deceptive traps and going astray, fill your heart with God’s word, and you’ll stay on track.

Having a happy New Year isn’t about things perfectly falling into place. It’s about thriving in any situation when you receive the instruction, discipline and the necessary spiritual insights in Scripture. Here’s to the best year ever!
