Stripping off all the titles and rejecting the fanfare that usually surrounds her name, she said in her post, “Today, I’m just a daughter,” adding, “Pray for me and my family. We really need it.”

Mother Bynumwas married to Elder Thomas Bynum Sr. who preceded her in death in June 2008, when he succumbed to a heart attack in the family kitchen, as previously reported by EEW Magazine Online. The pair, with roots in Chicago, Illinois, were the proud parents of five children.

Mother Bynum, whose cause of death has not been disclosed at the time of publication, grew in popularity after her famous televangelist daughter featured her on several internationally broadcast Christian television programs and conference stages. The silver-haired powerhouse, known for her colorful, faith-filled stories, intercessory prayers, and encouraging words, unashamedly shared her bold confidence in Scripture, even in the face of opposition.

“Today is a bittersweet moment as I watched my mom take her last breath as she looked up at us and smiled and her eyes looked over in glory,” said Dr. Kathy Bynum, older sister of Ambassador Bynum, in a Facebook post.

“She fasted for 7 days and on the 8th day she took her rest,” continued the grieving daughter. “See you on the other side mom.”

Condolences have poured out online from around the world, with many being directed to Ambassador Bynum who rose to fame after “No More Sheets,” a sermon she preached at Bishop T.D. Jakes’ “Woman Thou Art Loosed” conference in the late 90s, went viral.

Since that time, Ambassador Bynum has become one of the most prominent African American women preachers in the world.
